Hospital RN Case Study

Faced with tremendous financial pressure to reduce costs and unreasonable demands by their registered nurse union, a hospital in Western Massachusetts turned to Huffmaster Healthcare Strike Services to design a solution.

Huffmaster assisted in the development of their contingency plan and staffing matrix, recruited and deployed the register nurses, transportation and security personnel to allow the hospital to provide quality care to their patients.

When to union realized that the hospital was prepared and had the replacement nurses standing by, they settled the contract hours before the strike was scheduled to begin. By utilizing Huffmaster, the facility was able to avert the strike and save over $198,720 due mainly to Huffmaster’s 36 hour minimum deployment versus our competitors 60 hour standard minimum deployment.

Long Term Care Case Study

When a large long term care company was faced with a strike at two of their facilities in Northern California by the SEIU, Huffmaster provided planning, replacement staffing of their Allied and Service personnel as well as security to ensure that care was uninterrupted and uncompromised for the duration of the strike.

The SEIU local in question has a history of taking multiple short strikes and returning to work without a settlement, putting financial pressure on the company to gear up for continued operations multiple times or give in to the union’s demands. By being able to operate these facilities and continue to provide quality services to their patients and residents, the company was in a position to stop the cycle of short, expensive strikes. The company kept the union out passed the 2 day strike notice and eventually permanently replaced most of the striking employees.
